Frantic Assembly pieces

Being able to watch and enjoy the Frantic Assembly piece was fantastic, I was able to resonate with the majority of the characters and understand their stories as individuals and also as a united family. For the individual pieces, I did not really understand the concept of what we were supposed to be doing, so being a performer in Kamden's, Aishlinn's, and Millie's confused me a little bit because they were all so similar yet very different. After watching the videos back, I was able to get an understanding of what we were meant to do. I then decided to use the method of improvisation, as the lyrics to my song were very straightforward, and highlighted my character's (Mia) struggles. My song talked about being confined and building a safe place for love to grow, and I demonstrated it by connecting it to Mia's younger self as Mark was scared to come out and simultaneously nursing his sexuality alone. In the end, I was able to split different parts of Mia's life and then reunite them with the final lyrics of the song. Moving onto the group piece. I found this piece really fun as we basically worked from scratch to put together a massive piece from our individual pieces. The opportunity to change the lyrics of your individual monologue worked in my favor, as I switched up my piece to a more emotionally appealing one. At first, I was completely blank as to what was expected of me in this piece, and how we would all keep the audience entertained while one person delivers their lines. I was worried that as one person delivered their lines/lyrics, the rest of us would look out of place and boring. So Aishlinn and I began to think of ways that we could keep the audience entertained, without overshadowing or interfering with the person presenting their piece. The plan to start on benches in a graveyard arrangement was my idea because I felt it would raise questions from the audience when Kmaden suddenly wakes up and we stay "dead". Clearing the bunches after our sudden revival was also an idea I thought of so that Geffen could present Millie's piece using the full space around him and without restriction. This also helped clear the space for my piece as well as Aishlinn and Jackson. The theme of one person standing and everyone falling was another thing I worked on with my group, as I thought it increase tension and yet again questions from the audience as to why there is just one person standing. My favorite moment in the piece was the transition from Aishlinn's piece to my piece, as I felt like it went from a very emotional and tense atmosphere to an even tenser atmosphere. Everyone dropping to the ground and me staying up was one of my favorite parts, and my second favorite part was Geffen Kamden and Aishlinn's improvised awakening during Jackson's scene. Although it was an accident, and they were all meant to wake up at the same time, the different timing increased tension in the piece. My last observation was the camera angle, and I feel like making Millie record the piece from that angle was the best decision, as Millie zoomed in and shook the camera at some moments, even leaving people out of the screen sometimes. The shot still looked perfect.
