Mobile- The Paper Birds

 From the last class, I learned that Paper Birds are a devising company that follows a social and political agenda. In Mobile, their use of visual imagery, video projection, the use of physicality and space. Mobile is made for audiences of up to 8 people at a time, this is a special 40-minute theatre show set in a caravan, based on interviews conducted in communities across the UK. The production explores our sense of belonging and being at home, and the true reality of social mobility. Their use of Verbatim theatre and character representation using objects also helped show correlation to The Paper Birds.

The Paper Birds

The Paper Birds are an all-female theatre company that devotes its work to big socio-political issues and makes them accessible through theatre. Their productions empower people who can not empower themselves and shed light on common issues through. As part of their methods, they interview people and place verbatim material in the script. They are able to develop research pertaining to the theme of each single prodcution. 

Frantic Assembly pieces

Osajie Imevbore IB Theater Mrs. Guarino 2nd February 2022      Being able to watch and enjoy the Frantic Assembly piece was fantastic, I was able to resonate with the majority of the characters and understand their stories as individuals and also as a united family. For the individual pieces, I did not really understand the concept of what we were supposed to be doing, so being a performer in Kamden's, Aishlinn's, and Millie's confused me a little bit because they were all so similar yet very different. After watching the videos back, I was able to get an understanding of what we were meant to do. I then decided to use the method of improvisation, as the lyrics to my song were very straightforward, and highlighted my character's (Mia) struggles. My song talked about being confined and building a safe place for love to grow, and I demonstrated it by connecting it to Mia's younger self as Mark was scared to come out and simultaneously nursing his sexuality alone.
