TEAM : "She Kills Monsters"

Tension: When Chuck and Miles unexpectedly met in Agnes's house, the silence in the room caused a large amount of tension, and as the scene went on the dialogue reduced that tension. Another moment of tension was when Lillith died and Agnes argued with Chuck, in this scene there was a switch between the real world and the game world, and I really liked the difference.

Emotion: The scene where Vera and Agnes talked after Lilith's death brought out emotion in Agnes, and when she talked about only being able to learn Tilly's life through her journal, it was very sad. I could feel the emotion of Agnes and Vera's slight concern. The other scene was at the end when all the actors were able to play dungeon games together also brought out emotion and a feeling of togetherness.

Atmosphere: The LED lights were key instruments in changing the atmosphere from the real world, to the game world, and the lights and music in the fight scenes changed the feeling in the room. As an audience member, the lights and tone of the characters helped me acclimatize to the different moments in the play, which to me, highlighted the importance of atmosphere.

Meaning: For me, this play had some deep meaning, in regards to issues like bullying, the LGBTQ community, and mourning. One of the things I think helped meaning was the interpretation of Tilly's journal and how even though Chuck was the dungeon master, he could not change the course or story of the game. This helped us understand that this was Tilly's life and was able to link the meaning and connect it to real-life characters.
