Working on this performance was a huge learning experience for me, and had a lot of fun aspects to it. From working in two groups of three, to working as a whole group and merging our ideas together, then to adding elements of sound , words and movement, I would say this performance was great. As a group, we were able to create different movements and perform them cohesively so it matched with the music. While trying to make it as non choreographed as possible, we were able to get across our message clearly and show the meaning behind the performance. I would say that the easiest part of the performance was the movements and arrangements. I feel like after working in two separate groups and using different movements, we were able to collab and move a few things around with guidance. After we chose the purpose of the performance and the feeling we wanted it to convey, everything fell into place and it was easy to sort out who moved where and what they did in that position. I thought I did very well in being able to change or switch the movements whenever there was a change of plans. In regards to movement and placement changes, I would say I played a key leadership role in mixing it up and tying it into our pieces. For example, I suggested that we keep the theme of circling an individual, and using both stages so there isn't to much going in the center of the stage. I would say the hardest part of putting this together was picking the song and picking the tempo of our movements. Our theory was that we would just move according to the music, but in order for us to convey a certain message and expect the appropriate reaction from the audience, we had to make changes to the song to match our chosen tempo. We had a choice between three songs but ended up using two. The first song was used at the beginning because it was calmer and it had a lonely and alone feeling to it. The second song was more dramatic and had a stronger base, it depicted the pressure we were putting on Aishlinn and how we amplified each time someone said or yelled " are you okay"? Another problem we had was pacing and remembering to fill in space when someone stepped out of the circle. Due to the pace of the music, walking at a slower pace was difficult, and having to switch speeds whenever someone left the circle was annoying, but we were able to do it as efficiently as possible without running or going off the beat. A few things that helped amplify the quality of our performance were the colors used. The idea of a singular light on Aishlinn showed loneliness and singularity, the dark blue lights were sort of intense and calm at the same time, then the red at the end of the scene was to intensify Aishlinn’s scream. The lights matched extremely well with the message of the performance. I think we showed skill, organization, originality, and progress by using techniques like the egg, levels, projection, and lighting. This performance felt very easy for me, and I think I did more directing and organizing than I have in the past. I felt myself talking more and giving more ideas on how to do things and how to carry out certain actions across the stage and throughout the performance. I learned the importance of teamwork and planning ahead, as we used the notes from earlier and the pre picked songs.
