Reflection on the viewpoints

My view and portrayal on walking the space two weeks ago and walking the space now have changed drastically. The first day we did viewpoints I was very stiff and had no idea how walking round in circles would help my performance or directing skills. After the first class, I began to loosen up and every walking the space task felt easier, less tense and I took each one as performances in my own right. Following the different prompts each class became more interesting and I didn't just see what I was doing as "walking around aimlessly", but I noe saw the difference between each prompt, viewpoint or intruction. I learnt about levels and how they can be multiple things like speed, height, size and how you move on the stage.
After doing the viewpoint on levels, I began to understand the importance of positoning on a stage and after that, I would unconsciously apply this concept into my other walking the space activities when I felt it was necessary. Another thing I learnt was about how music and sounds affect your performamce. When there are certain sounds playing or going off in the background of a performance, it almost feels like your body is controlled by it, wether its the way you're stepping, the speed of your movement or how you control your levels. I belive this happens because to a certain extent, music sets a mood and there should be a general mood when certain songs or souds are played.
Last week we did viewpoints with different lightings and words. While we worked on these we added in interactons with our fellow performers on stage and it added new element to things. With the interactions, I now was not only thinking about myself, but about what the person I was interacting with was about to do or say next. Doing the viewpoints with lights are similar to music, different colors are associated with different emotions and feelings. For instance- dark blue is calm and gloomy, green is happier and sympolizes nature, white symbloizes revival and life, and pink love. Adding words to the viewpoints with lights made interacting more fun because you could focus on a particular person and perform off their character.
Last but not the least, the viewpoints done outside felt like freedom. The change of scenery, amount of space and background noises just changed how I walked the space. With the cool breeze blowing I would just let myself relax and feel the breeze flow threw my hair. I felt alot more comfortable and could try more things.
