Memorable Theatre Moments

Macbeth

In 2019 January I participated in the Shakespeare class play. Each group chose a famous play written by him and performed it the next day. I joined the Macbeth play and throughout the time to prepare and learn our lines, I was learning the lines of both King Duncan and Macbeth, just in case, the person playing King Duncan didn't show up. The next day, to no surprise the person playing King Duncan didn't show up so I started thinking about how we would do the stabbing scene. So for the Macbeth role, we dressed a random kid in all black and a mask so his identity would be unknown and carried out the scene with me as King Duncan. Then after the scene, I reprised my role as Macbeth and an unexpected round of applause emerged from the audience. After the play, I began to hear new speculations of whether my dual role represented King Duncan's death as self-sabotage and it was interesting to see.
